Walt Peterson Joy of Beekeeping Graduation Award
In order to further the art and science of beekeeping among newly trained students of the authorized introductory training class(es) of the Inland Empire Beekeeping Association, the WALT PETERSON JOY IN BEEKEEPING FUND, shall grant merit awards to graduates of each class.
Three yearly awards, each consisting of up to $100.00 value of beekeeping supplies, equipment, bees, clothing or any other implement or component of the endeavor of starting and/or keeping colonies of bees shall be made to qualified graduates of the IBEA authorized beekeeping class(es), based upon the following criteria.

- Application, in writing, must be made for the award. The application must include a brief statement of the applicatn's interest, plans for future beekeeping and any other information pertaining to the applicant's continuation of the craft.
- Applicant must have successfully completed the class material and graduated from an IBEA authorized class.
- Graduate must have attended at least 75% of the scheduled classes, plus all outside lab offereings.
- Applications must be in the hands of the JOY IN BEEKEEPING TRUSTEES within two weeks of the final class of each session.
- Winners will be chosen, based upon the merit of the application and the work done in class by a secret majority vote of the trustees and the course instructor(s). In the event of a tie vote, the current president of the IBEA, or her/his designated replacement, will be called upon to cast the deciding vote.
- The award may not be given twice to the same person.
