Walt Peterson Joy in Beekeeping Grant
A yearly grant of up to $250.00 may be awarded by the fund in each calendar year for the purpose of perpetuating a continuing interest in beekeeping. The scholarship grants are available to help new beekeepers or to assist established beekeepers maintain or start colonies of bees. To allow as many as possible to be b4enefit from the fund, a person winning a grant may only receive the grant one time.

- Applicant must be an active IBEA member. Applicant must have attended at least four IBEA meetings in the last twelve months.
- Applicant has provided bees for apitherapy to one person for a period of twelve months, if requested, OR
- Applicant has proved ten hours of service at the IBEA booth at the Spokane Interstate Fair, Kootenai County Fair or other approved public educational demonstration or promotion, OR
- Applicant has provided ten hours promoting beekeeping at schools in the area, OR
- Applicant has provided ten hours of beekeeping related service that has prior approval of the trustees.
Potential recipients of the grant must be nominated by an IBEA member.
All nominations for the WPJB grant must be in written form and presented to the Trustees by the end of the monthly IBEA meeting in January. Nominator will state his or her name on the nomination. Award of the grants will take place at the regularly scheduled February IBEA meeting. The individual choosen to receive the award is given a check for up to $250.00.
